NEW MEDIA CENTER
is formed to promote effective use of new media, information and new communication technologies, through strengthening of the participation as one of the main attributes of the new media, as well as through promotion of media education and further development of citizen journalism.
AIMS AND ACTIVITIES
The New Media Center is establishing its mission through promotion, advocacy, education and research of the new media. The work of the Center is founded and realized exclusively through democratic values, methods and modalities of functioning.
In the practical work the following areas will be emphasized:
- Analyzing and Research of the New Media
- Support “open content” media that allows all citizens “to be the media” and to generate media content.
- Organizing discussions, seminars, workshops and other types of debates in the field of new media.
- Promoting media education as a type of education necessary for everyone.
- Publishing books, brochures, electronic issues, manuals, magazines other useful materials in the field of new media.
- Establishing, maintaining and advancing cooperation with organizations and institutions with similar or related activities.
WHEN? WHO?
According to the official state documentation, we exist since January 2007, but the idea for the New Media Center was born one year before that. Behind New Media Center are four bloggers from Macedonia: Sead Dzigal, Darko Buldioski, Mite Kuzevski and Anastas Vangeli. As Bloggers and “Heavy Users of Internet” we all easily found a common language in terms of identifying what is missing, and is needed at the same time, here in Macedonia. Our individual activities in the past were all related to the New Media but with the forming of New Media Center in joint efforts we will endeavor into raising all activities to higher and more organized level.
